Singing for Health groups

I have been running singing for health groups since 2005, beginning with “Mindful Harmonies”, a weekly session for the staff of Greenpeace’s European Press Office in Brussels, which ran for 9 months.

Since then, after returning to the UK, I qualified as a teacher in the Lifelong Learning Sector and delivered “Finding your Voice” and “Getting to Know Your Voice” courses to explore vocal techniques at Swarthmore Education Centre in Leeds, before helping to set up and lead the Giving Voice choir for adults with neurological conditions.

I currently lead the following singing groups:

  • Giving Voice Choir – for adults with neurological conditions and their carers in Leeds. Funded by Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
  • The Steel City Tremorloes – for people with Parkinson’s and their carers. Funded by Parkinson’s UK Sheffield.
  • Breathe Easy singing group – for people with lung conditions. Funded by Asthma and Lung UK Sheffield
  • Sister Songbirds – A women’s singing group that is part of the Being You Leeds project for Community Wellbeing in Leeds.
